Cage-raised broiler chickens | Ventilation precautions in spring and winter
01The use of small windows
The opening angles are uniform. According to the equipment manufacturer's recommendations, the opening angle of the flat small window should not be less than 3 centimeters, and the opening degree of the self-supporting curved air intake window should not be less than 5 centimeters;
The adjustment of the angle of the deflector on the small flat window is very important;

When the small window is opened, the stirrer fan stops running;
Mixing fan: Typically a centrifuge equipped with a speed regulator, it can reduce the temperature difference between the ceiling and the ground by agitating the air, while avoiding direct blows on the chickens. This helps minimize temperature variations across the breeding area. It is a device that enhances ventilation efficiency, reduces the frequency of heater activation, and lowers energy consumption;
The number of small windows should meet the requirements for minimum ventilation and transitional ventilation.
02 Selection of fan
Give priority to selecting small fans on the side walls;
The gable fan has strong pulling force, which is beneficial to the uniformity of temperature difference between the front and the back, but the ventilation volume should be appropriately reduced;
When transitioning from a small fan to a larger one, a smoke test is necessary.
03 Ventilation settings
If a cycle lasts for 5 minutes, the ventilation time for one cycle should ideally not exceed 60% of the cycle time, and the proportion of operation time after adding a fan should not be less than 20%;
When setting the ventilation level, adjustments should be made based on the age of the chickens, the temperature difference between inside and outside the shed, and the humidity;
Special weather conditions: When there is strong wind, the negative pressure should be appropriately increased to reduce the ventilation volume; when it is foggy or rainy, the ventilation volume should be appropriately increased.
04 Switching of ventilation mode

When switching between minimum ventilation and transitional ventilation, the sequence is very important: time control - temperature control - time control
When the external temperature rises: first reduce the boiler water temperature, then increase the ventilation volume;
When the external temperature drops: first reduce the ventilation volume, then increase the boiler water temperature;
After increasing ventilation, the humidity in the chicken coop decreases, and it is necessary to consider the impact of humidity on perceived temperature;
The heater should not be activated during transitional ventilation.
05 Minimum ventilation for cage rearing
CO2 concentration: It is recommended to control it below 4000PPM, and the ventilation rate for CO2 exhaust should be less than that for humidity;
The humidity in cage rearing is recommended to be controlled between 55% and 70%, and it is also the main reference indicator for the minimum ventilation mode of cage-reared broilers;
When the external temperature ranges from -12°C to 4°C, the empirical value range of the minimum ventilation rate for cage-raised broilers is 0.3 to 0.5 m/h/Kg;
The temperature of the boiler water for cage-raised broilers should be gradually lowered with age. If the boiler water temperature is too high, the heat dissipation of the radiator will be excessive, resulting in a higher minimum ventilation rate and greater diurnal humidity fluctuations, which can easily lead to respiratory diseases.
